Newport County a.f.c is Newport’s main sports team,as of 2025, they play in the fourth tier of english football.The team was founded by Wolverhampton Wanderers fans who wanted to watch a football team where they worked (at that time many men from Wolverhampton to work in the mines) that played in their colours (black & amber),and then Newport County was born,After Newport county got kicked out of Newport stadium,they started to share Rodney Parade with Dragons r.f.c (Newports Rugby team).Out of all the Welsh teams in english football,Newport county is by far the least superior out of Cardiff City,Swansea City,Wrexham,and Newport and are currently dead last in EFL league 2.
